By the way, after selling the property the tax lien will not be totally paid off. All of the money from the sale will go toward the lien and it won't be enough to pay the entire debt. Does that effect the sale? Will it take longer to close the deal? does the IRS have to sign off on it? How does it affect the marketing of the property and does it affect the buyer in any way?

Vincent

Masshole asked:

I have a private pilot's license and 150 hours, and that alone cost me more than $15,000 of my own money. I'd need a minimum of 1,000 hours (half of which would have to be multi-engine, which is even more expensive) to springboard me into any type of airline career. Do the math and you can see that I'd be up to my ears in debt.

And those are just the minimums. Sheesh.

Would my bank give me a loan for this type of expense? I doubt it, because the IRS doesn't even allow flight school as a deductible expense, and unlike most college majors, there are no scholarships for this type of career.

This question assumes civilian training. After all, not all of us are lucky enough to have flawless 20/10 vision and stellar physical stamina required to be able to fly in the military.

Emma

you can take it or leave it.... asked:

Last year my taxes were offset because of my student loans....this has since been cleared up. The offset program hotline says I still have a debt and my taxes may be offset, when I call Dept of Ed. they say that I have no debt and that it was sent to IRS on 12/13 to remove offset indicator. No one on either end says there is anything they can do. IRS says that they have to double check before they offset, an dept of Ed says they'll just take it, attempt to send it to Dept of Ed, then eventually return it to me.

I found all of this after I filed yesterday......any suggestions who I should try? Or if this has happened to you?
